2018-19 Frank H Sobey Awards for Excellence in Business Studies Awarded: Eight Students Finish the School Year with Major Scholarships
$1.8M awarded from the Frank H. Sobey Awards for Excellence in Business Studies since 1989
STELLARTON, N.S. – Eight business students studying at Atlantic Canadian universities have each received $25,000 as recipients of the 2018-19 Frank H. Sobey Awards for Excellence in Business Studies.
The award recipients were chosen by a Board of Directors, comprised of Atlantic Canadian business and academic leaders, from over 30 finalists based on entrepreneurial experience and interest, academic standing, extracurricular and community activities, and career aspirations.
“Since 1989, the Frank H. Sobey Awards have been awarded to 181 emerging business leaders from Atlantic Canada. Every year, our Board is overwhelmed by the talent, leadership and entrepreneurialism shining through students at Atlantic Canadian Business Schools. The talent that these young business minds bring to this region is inspiring to us all.” said Paul D. Sobey, Chair of the Board of Directors for the Frank H. Sobey Awards for Excellence in Business Studies.
The award recipients of the 2018-19 Frank H. Sobey Award for Excellence in Business studies are:
- Giuliana DiBonaventura – Mount Allison University
- Liam Elbourne – St. Francis Xavier University
- Jacob Ezeard – University of Prince Edward Island
- Emma Logan – St. Francis Xavier University
- Erik Oliver – Mount Allison University
- Matthew Raske – Memorial University
- Jenna Robertson – Acadia University
- Spencer Wiechert – Saint Mary’s University
These exceptional business students and future leaders, along with the Deans of their respective Business Faculties, will be honoured at a ceremony at the Crombie House on March 7th, 2019.

The Frank H. Sobey Awards for Excellence in Business Studies currently presents eight awards of $25,000 each. All full-time business students attending Atlantic universities are eligible for consideration. Deans of Business at each university nominate candidates based on academic standing, entrepreneurial interest, extracurricular and community activities, employment history and career aspirations.
Established in 1989, the Frank H. Sobey Awards for Excellence in Business Studies have awarded more than $2,000,000 to business students in the four Atlantic Provinces. Each university in the region offering a business program has had at least one recipient of a Frank H. Sobey Award.
